Pixel Lineage: Combat Guide to Actions and Timing
Learn attack and defense timing, compare battle actions, and understand Energy, Potion limits, and mode-specific Run restrictions.
Pixel Lineage combat is a turn-based choice between damage, survival and resources, with timing prompts affecting how well you execute. Learn Attack and defensive timing first, then use skills, Guard, Meditate and Potions to handle the fight you are in rather than spending every turn on the largest move.
This gameplay video shows the interface and turn-based rhythm that the following choices use.
Choose the action that solves this turn
| Action | Purpose | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Attack | Basic weapon damage with a timing bonus | Good timing improves damage |
| Skill | Use a class move | Needs its Energy cost and available cooldown |
| Guard | Reduce damage until your next turn | Free for non-Mages; Mage Guard costs one Energy |
| Meditate | Gain one Energy | Consumes your turn without providing Guard |
| Potion | Restore 30% maximum HP | At most three uses per battle |
| Run | Leave only where the mode permits | Unavailable in adventure battles; forfeits Arena |
Damage is only one part of a productive turn. If the next hit would end the hero's run, defensive timing or recovery matters more than another ordinary attack. If a skill is still cooling down, adding Energy will not make that cooldown disappear.
Treat incoming prompts as part of your damage plan
Correct attack timing adds damage, while blocking or dodging reduces incoming damage. Missing defense can erase the benefit of an aggressive turn. Harder difficulties give you less time for these prompts, which is a reason to practice on Normal before raising both enemy pressure and execution demands.
Each hero has three lives, and a lost battle costs one. That makes survival through the entire route more valuable than producing one spectacular attack before falling. In a party of up to four, consider who needs protection or healing rather than spending every support move on yourself.
Guard and Meditate are different commitments
Guard protects you until the next turn; Meditate trades that protection for one Energy. Mage adds another distinction: its Guard costs one Energy and raises a barrier based on held Energy. Do not assume the free Guard rule applies to every class.
Use Meditate when you can afford the incoming turn and the extra Energy unlocks a useful next action. Guard when surviving the immediate pressure is the priority. This is a practical choice based on current health and move costs, not a fixed rotation for every enemy.
Know the exit rule before taking a risk
You cannot Run from adventure battles. In Arena, Run forfeits the match. Guild raids and the Training Dummy permit exit. Choose an adventure difficulty before entering with those restrictions in mind; an unavailable escape button cannot rescue a route that was too ambitious for the hero.
